This is just a quick question on the new phone. While looking for a phone, I like to go for functionality over form or flash.
The main question I have is about how the 9630 compares to the 8330. I'm not so much interested in the improvements of features such as a larger screen, improved camera, faster processor, storage capacity etc. Rather, I'm curious what features are slated to exist in the 9630 that do not exist in the 8830 or the 8330.
That is to say, what can I do on the 9630 that I would not be able to do on the 8330?
The 8330 is a 3G enabled phone, so that advice is flawed.
Technically speaking, I don't believe you'll be able to DO MORE on the 9630.
But like you had pointed out, it will have a better processor with a better camera.
The keyboard style will also be different, so maybe you'll be able to type faster?
Also, the 9630 will have world capabilities while the 8330 does not.
The OP question is a good one and is prbably the main reason why I may pass on it. Especially with continued exclusion of wifi, there just isn't a point unless some "extra" features/advancements come to light

This is why I still use my IBM T40 in light of the better IBM/Lenovo laptops out there. Ok, thanks.

SIM card, for one. allows you to use the device overseas/other networks.
for me, i want to take advantage of RIMs TV, wifi overseas when I travel.... u know, since its being marketed as a world phone! And I feel left out of the GPS app world. So until these VERY BASIC features come to light to verizon, there's no reason to upgrade

truly it may just come to a time when you need to upgrade your phone as the old ones will eventually work there way out the door for the current time on verizon the Tour may be the one that appeases the curve audience..
-A faster processor which means less hour glassing
-OS 5.0 which will upgrade many features
-World phone that will work over seas or on another network if you want to switch
-Slightly large package with bigger screen
-Possibly an unlocked GPS (like the storm) so that you can use GPS apps like poynt, where, google maps, amazegps, garmin gps, google latitude, smrtguard, etc.
-More memory for apps and many new apps due to OS 5.0 and possibly unlocked GPS that are unavailable to the Curve 8330.
-Probably larger microSD card compatibility, so you could possibly use a 32 or 64gb card
-Hot switchable microsd card since this one is not under the battery (if I remember correctly)
-Possible trackpad instead of trakball
-New Device

u misread... I said "THATS WHY" I wouldn't upgrade to the tour. Because I want those features I listed above which the tour wont have. Basically, the tour will d everything the 8330 does, just a little better
