Does anyone know if Verizon's release of v5.0.0.1006 a few days ago is only available for the Bold? A friend has the Bold and she got the release, but my Tour 9630 tells me that there are no wireless updates avail and my phone shows me still on v5.0.0.975.
Yeah, no kidding "Crackberry Genius"...that's my whole point...Verizon apparently has .1006 avail for the Bold. Now again, my question is, does Verizon also have it avail for the Tour.
The 5.0.0.1006 build is for the BOLD. Not the TOUR, because they are not the same. If you would like another OS, then try the one that pcgizmo linked to.
By the way, do either of you know if the link pcgizmo referenced for .1030 only is for Sprint? This thread is in re: to my Verizon Tour, so wasnt sure if the link'/OS he referenced would only work for Sprint.
FWIW, 1006 was released for the Bold OTA only. The reason for this was to make it possible for those Bold users who wanted to upgrade to OS6 via OTA , they had to install 5.0.0.1006 first.

The OS is for Sprint, however it WILL work for a Verizon Tour. All you have to do is delete the Vendor.xml file and it'll be good to go. I ran .1030 on my Verizon Tour for a while before putting the .1041 leak on it.

Your question reads you know nothing about hardware or software. Tour OS upgrades have been beat to death on this forum.
If people offer help you should respect the answer. If you cannot understand the answer, do a search.
I saw a post from another member a few weeks ago about this, but I can't find it now in a search, and can't recall whether it was in the Tour forum or the Verizon forum. Can't find it on either one now, since I don't remember the exact thread. If anyone else can find this, or remembers it, feel free to post.
He and his family members have several Tours, and all but one, I think it was his daughter's, did get the OTA alert about the upgrade to 5.0.0.1006 being available for installation. (The rest of us never did). He was trying to find a way to upgrade that last one through DM, and was trying to find out where he could get the .exe file version, but we never did find one. And, I still get the "no updates available" message on my Tour too, when I check through DM or OTA. So, as others have stated, I don't think VZW intended to release it for Tours; it was just to enable Bold users to upgrade to OS 6.
