I bought my Tour when it first came out and got a 2yr contract with the $199 price (actually, it was $270 - $70 rebate.).

Anyway, when I was at the Verizon store, someone put my new phone under my father's/parent's Verizon account (we all have the same last name.) Well, I just got the bill, and it was in my father's name. So I called Verizon and asked them to create a different account under my name for accounting purposes. The Verizon rep told me that since I was assuming the new verizon line, my contract commitment dropped automatically from 2yrs to only 1 year! I really don't mind because I'm going to be staying with Verizon and have an unlimited plan anyway, but I guess it's nice to know that, for whatever reason, I can get out of it in only 1 yr if I want to.
