i hope this is true, but to be honest, it doesn't make as much sense as people may think. Verizon usually announces things two weeks before, but i guess since this will be an exclusive for a bit and replacing a very much loved phone, it may get announced earlier than most phones.

I gotta think that VZW would want to get the jump on Sprint and retain its customers or pull in new ones. So maybe a week or two earlier than normal makes sense.
