Turn of notifications

I would like to be able to turn off all my notifications from everything but text messages/voice mail. I have it to the point that it does not make a sound, or show the number of emails I have that are unread. But it does still show the starred message icon. It also still shows how many unread Facebook notifications I have. I don't want to uninstall either application because I still use them I just want to open them myself rather than have them always nagging at me.

I don't think it can be done. If you want to receive only text messages and voice mails you may turn off data service from Manage Connections-Mobile Network Options.

I still want to receive them, I just don't want to be notified, I want to check them myself...
