I was wondering if anyone heard any rumors about a new tour coming out anytime soon with the new trackpads? I really like the new Bold that's coming out but really wanted to switch to Verizon.

There isn't anyway of installing a trackpad to the current tour is there?

I would wager Rim is phasing out the trackball altogether for the track pad. But that's just speculation.

nickbutterz is correct. the phone that will be replacing the tour has been codenamed the "Essex." it will have all the features the current tour has + a higher quality camera, wifi, and a trackpad from what i've read. verizon is requesting that all future bb models have wifi.

+1 on the comment about RIM replacing trackballs. if you look at all the newer models coming out (after the curve 8520) they all have this new "trackpad" instead of the "trackball"

Nice, thanks for the info. Hope it does come out around the time they hear. I really wanted the trackpad but want to get rid of ATT. Especially now that I found out that Verizon gives a 20% discount on my bill for the company I work for. :-D

Hey, how does Vcast work on verizon. Does it come free with the BB Data plan or is it an extra charge?

I don't see it coming to Verizon anytime soon.

Vcast is an extra charge on top of the BIS plan.

I'd guess that with the Tour having just been released in July 2009, we wouldn't see it's CDMA replacement until late 2010.

I think that the Essex is expected to be released in either 1q or 2q in 2010.

Definitely wouldn't be released 1Q 2010 that's way too early. 2Q may even be too early.

1Q 2010 may be early, but i've seen many places say that it's expected jan/feb 2010. i highly doubt it though.

Can you still use the GPS on google maps without paying for GPS line on ATT?

I don't know what a "GPS line" is....but the device's internal GPS should work just fine with Google Maps.
