    The Tour has 3G whereas the 8900 does not. What else is sizzling re/ the Tour? Also, what carrier(s) will have it, and when? I use AT&T and need to upgrade and the latest they have right now is the 8900. Should I wait?

    ATT will not have the Tour, they will get the OYNX late 09' possibly.

    You can't compare the two for the network you're on

    8900 Has wifi, 9630 does not

    Shouldn't it be Tour vs. Bold?

    I mean, Bold is faster than 8900 right? And does verizon have 3G in the US? It sounds like AT&T has the cheaper data usage.
    I'm thinking the bold is a better option for those who value wi-fi and 3G but someone who actually knows what they're talking about needs to convince me either way! Thanks

    Yes the bold is faster, 8900 has better camera. Verizon/Sprint is 3G. The Tour won't be available for At&t. They will get the Onyx/whatever they decide to name it later this year sometime

    Tour = CDMA (with world GSM capabilities).
    8900 = GSM
    Bold = GSM

    Only way to get a Tour (USA) is Verizon or Sprint. If you want something Tour-ish, you would go for the Bold or wait for the Onyx (Bold 9020).

    The Tour doesn't currently have Wi-Fi. Sprint is trying to get RIM to make a Tour with Wi-Fi for sometime in 2010.

    So 3G = GSM but CDMA speed is slower than GSM speed?

    No 3G is Evdo on CDMA, And Evdo Rev A. Is 3.5G which most of Verizon and Sprint's network runs on. Rev A. is toe2toe with 3G on GSM on speeds but much more solid coverage then GSM which if you've used ATT is nothing to right home about.

    You need to determine which network has the best coverage in the areas you frequent. Once you decide, then you can choose a phone.

    I think judging by current release schedule - we will see an Onyx like device next summer.

    The 8900 came out in Feb'09 in the US - (on T-Mobile first). The Tour with no WiFi - July'09. The Storm 2 rumored to be Nov'09.
