Hey everyone, i've searched and can't seem to find anything, i don't want to sound like a complete *****, but will the tour work with at&t 3g or will it be on edge, and also would it be possible to get the at&t service books seeing as how new the tour is? thanks to everyone who doesn't make fun of me! lol
I would assume that it only would work on VZW's 3G, not AT&T's, same as the Storm. Don't quote me on that, but that's based on what I've read around here. I believe Bold uses HSDPA 850/1900 (AT&T land) for 3G and the Tour only uses GSM 2100 and EVDO/CDMA (VZW land) for 3G. They both share the same GSM frequencies for 2G, so EDGE will probably be what you can get on it. I use wi-fi at home for the net and shut 3G off to save the battery.
Not to pick on you, but if you have a Bold, why the need for a Tour?
I had an tmobile 8900 the internet was unbelievably slow and most of the time it wouldn't even leave the home page, luckily the guy I bought it from was nice and took it back and refunded my money, I don't know if it was just that 8900 or if they r all like that

the tour will only do edge in the US. the frequency for 3g is different for US 3g. the tour will support 3g overseas, but not here, unless on verizon (or your preferred CDMA carrier, given that you purchased the device from that carrier).
the 8900 is also only edge. the bold is your best option
Fair enough. Maybe someone else will know if you can port it to AT&T. I could be wrong.
Porting the Tour to At&t would be like putting a 900 HP Mustang on the Illinois tollway...
1. You are forced to drive through the worst roads in the country
2. You have to PAY EXTRA to drive on them
3. The fastest you can go is 25 Mph... Even though the so called Posted speed limit is 75!!!!!

1. For the most part. But it depends where you live, VZW doesn't have the best coverage everywhere.
2. When I thought of leaving AT&T for VZW my exact same plan would have been almost $15 a month more.
3. Maybe 50 on a 75? When I turn 3G off, I don't notice a huge speed difference, moreso the ability to do voice and data together.
Sides, it's her choice. I'd personally stick w/the Bold...to each their own.
