Volume issues
I like my Tour but have issues with the volume. On my 8830 I could crank the volume and hear okay if I had to. The Tour it doesn't get as loud. Am I the only one?
Perhaps related in the firmware... my friend and I who both have the Tour are getting complaints about people not hearing us when connected to onboard bluetooth. Anyone else?
Thoughts or Suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Thanks

My Sprint Tour has many problems:
1. Very laggy and jumpy with the trackball.
2. Bluetooth won't stay connected consistently.
3. Can't call any numbers with area codes in front. Only 7 digit numbers.
4. Takes 5+ minutes to reboot on every battery pull. I have had to pull the battery over 20 times since I activated the phone at 1pm.
5. Can't install Blackberry Desktop 5 if running Windows 7. Had to download 4.7 which kind of works but freezes alot. Can't install Media Sync for iTunes with Windows 7. Will have to convert iTunes library to copy through USB connection.
6. Not too many apps are compatible with it yet. Google Maps doesn't have pan ability in street view.
7. Can't access dial screen, only call history log.
8. Terrible battery life compared with most Blackberries. - 07-14-2009, 07:58 PM #255
Poor Audio on TOUR!
I can confirm that after owning and using every blackberry ever made that call quality and speakerphone are pure crap on the Tour. The people in here that say otherwise are really not that perceptive (sorry). I tried calls from 3 tours in one verizon store and 2 in another and every person i called said the call quality was bad, speakerphone was worse. Dont quite understand rim on this one. The BB bold and BB 8900 and BB curve are all very good. For curiosity i tested the storm and it was also very poor!
Rim! what is going on. Are all new BB going down in quality? - 07-14-2009, 08:07 PM #256
An outline of what I have experienced:
- Activation and data sync went seamlessly.
- Slight jiggle in the battery door, but it is solidly closed and not much of a concern.
- Call & speakerphone quality seem to be top-notch.
- Application loading exposed a few incompatabilities, but most of them are software issues that come with a new phone/OS.
- A few lags with the trackball, mainly only when scrolling through the sound list on the Sounds panel, otherwise no real issues.
- Messaging and emails work seamlessly.
I really only have two issues:
1) It seems that if I do a battery pull or software-induced reboot with the phone plugged in, it doesn't boot until the cable is unplugged. Anyone else noticed this?
2) Every time the phone boots, the Setup Wizard launches and I really don't need to quit it every time the phone boots.
Otherwise, very pleased with this phone. - 07-14-2009, 08:10 PM #257
Syncing BlackBerry Data to a Mac
I bought my Verizon Tour on Sunday; however, I am having difficulty syncing data from my MacBook Pro laptop to my Tour. I downloaded the PocketMac for BlackBerry as well as the updated drives, but it keeps telling me that there is a "connection failure" and the data cannot be synced. Also, I cannot get my Bluetooth to work with my laptop (to transfer photos/music from my laptop to my phone); everytime I try to connect, it keeps telling me that there was an error with the Internet modem.
Does anyone know why I'm having these problems? Thank you in advance! -

Pocket MAC is broke for the tour they are working on it. When you setup your bluetooth connection you should have unchecked the modem part

I had that happen but resolved the problem. The Navigator worked fine on my way home. However, when I used desktop manager later that day to transfer my apps, the problem ocurred that you described. I then uninstalled Navigator and reinstalled it using the icon in the Tour's application (or application center) folder. No problems at that point.

Tour Issues
WTF
1. I cant get my WiFi to work.
2. Is anyone else having problems with the touch screennot working?
3. My Tour does not float in the pool. I thought this thing was waterproof.
I sure hope Verizon lets me return this BB Tour for the New iPhone. - 07-14-2009, 08:44 PM #264
this is done on purpose the right side convience key is meant to be used with the camera. the right side has a 2 click function, press done and one clck will focus the picture, press down harder and they key will actually take the picture.

The only issue I had have on my Tour is when I get some email, I highlight them all to delete them and when I delete it, it seems to delete forever. I have to hit the end button twice to go to the main screen and when I go back into the message it still says deleting. The only way is to wait or open something else up in order for the deleting message to go away. And the messages are STILL there. Anyone else seeing this?

I can look past the buggy software (txt messages cause phone to lock up for a few seconds every 5th txt or so), the crappy vibrate, barely audible speaker with certain ringtones (I'm sure its a codec problem), issue when more than 20 rings are added to media card ( browsing the rings becomes a chugging mess in the OS), completely POS backplate ( it's like a rubbermaid plastic lid-no other BB I know has such a **** backplate), and even the cheap holster ( which in no way compairs to one given with 8330 and 8800)..
Already there is dust in the camera lens and flash- behind the clear window. I've babied this thing since I got it. I'm so upset because I have the 8900 and flip right now( along with every other BB I owned because I never get rid of them) which I think are better constructed. What is this thing gonna be like 6 months later? I'd bet camera will be unuseable. I religiously keep my BB's in holster case 99% of the time.
What the **** were all the tester's, BGR's, BB bloggers, and even Kevin doing when they tried the Tour? That's why I'm no longer gonna trust these guys. I don't think they really put them through " real world" testing. They get new flavors of phones constantly and just move to the next. Play with it for a few days, show it off, get some page hits, and time for something else. Thats not the way to inform the public or provide and outlet. Unless someone can explane how these guys dropped the ball.
Also, why is RIM's "QC" for VZW such crap. The storm was such a mess and still is for some people. There is plenty of real concerns now with Tour build. I'd expect this out of a 99 dollar phone- not a 270 dollar phone.
I'm not new to BB's this is my 9th one..
I'm really considering going back to my trusty 8330.

Overall I am pretty happy with my Tour (changed from 8830WE) however I have run into some issues that I have been unable to figure out the reasoning for them.
1. Each time I use Verizon Virtual Voice Mail the phone hangs whether i am deleting, listening, forwarding etc. I have to perform a battery pull in order to get unit to work again.
2. When performing a battery pull it takes over 5 minutes for the unit to be up and fully operational again.
3. For some reason after using my Tour for 24 hours it now asks for a password after locking itself after several minutes of inactivity and also after putting in the included phone holster. Speaking of which what happened to RIM/VZW including a quality clip holster with each new BB. If anyone knows how to disable this password feature I would greatly appreciate it.
Like I said earlier in my post overall I am pretty happy with my new Tour especially the fact that my internet surfing is faster and also that I can now send and receive MMS/Picture Text messages. - 07-14-2009, 09:18 PM #269
havent read through alot of the problems just some but my bbm contacts all say unavailable and i dont think its because people are ignoring me.

My only real complaint is the vibrate. I cannot hear it or feel it unless it's in my hand. I heard some complain about it and just wrote it off, but I don't feel it in my pocket at all.

Had my tour about 6 hrs. Overall very happy. Battery door does have a little play. I dont know if it's just because it a new phone to me but the tour seems so much more fragile than my old 8330. One thing I haven't been able to figure out is the backlight behind the trackball and main buttons stays light whenever I'm talking on the phone. The keyboard light turns off after 20 sec. Has anyone else had this happen or knoe of a setting that can change it? Thanks!

My tour is a little laggy but nothing to bad the only thing that is bothering me is the bottom of the device kepts pretty warm almost hot when i am on the phone or downloading apps it doesn't bother me to much and i think (hope) that this will go away once i break the device in.

Tour call quality is terrible!
I visted a Verizon store today to try out the new Tour. I've been following the launch of this device for months and was really looking forward to it. After trying it at the store, however, I have to say that I am *deeply* disappointed.
The call quality, I find, is not bad, it's horrendous! It sounds incredibly muffled, both on my end and the other. I thought it might be the particular phone,so I tried another one (the store had 2 available to try). It was a smidge better on my end, but the other person said I sounded very muffled. What is going on?? Call quality us #1 of me. How could they put so much into the design of this device and come out with a product that sounds so terrible? I am so disappointed! Has anyone else discovered this?

So Far the Tour has been a goldmine for me!! This is the Mercedes of phones COMPARED to the Storm!! No lag what-so-ever, no problems with battery door, battery life never goes past half throughout the day...memory stays 115mb all day...sound quality kicks the Storms ***!! especially speakerphone....browser is much faster...takes only 2 minutes to restart on a hard pull....obviously some phones are defective (its like that for any electronics)...just take it back and get a new one cuz if mine is this good, then theres gotta be good ones out there, cuz i had 5 storms and they ALL sucked!! You guys all want a phone that works like magic...stop being so picky...think bout 5 years ago the kind of phones that were made and look now...u want a GREATTT phone, get an iphone and pay 150 bucks a month!! and then let it overheat and break...nothing beats verizons service in my area!! i love you guys, but this phone kicks assss (especially if u had the storm)!! and if the USB chord location really pisses u off, then go grab ur mothers old "car" phone that looked like a suitcase and play with that all day and tell me how u feel!! goooooooooo BB!!!
