I saw an article about how great AT&T data speeds are. I am on Verizon, and lately I have noticed a significant decrease in speed in the Columbia SC area. I pretty consistently get around 300 down and about 225 or so up.

What is everyone else's speed? I would like to see both Verizon and other carriers. Supposedly we are in a EDVO REVA area. I am not impressed right now. It used to be better. Some applications now take like 10 minutes just to download them.

I am using an app I downloaded from Xtremelabs.

Is there a better way to test speed??

That app said my download speed was 4386.83 kbits/s and max speed is 5993.42 kbits/s.
Upload speed is 56.21 kbits/s and max speed is 119.9 kbits/s

Man something is definitely wrong with my data speeds, Im in around downtown nyc and Im getting DL speed: 128kb/ max 879kb and upload im getting 76kb/ max 77kb.

I knew something was wrong when I first activated the phone last week, data is just very slow.

edit: tested again, now Im getting DL speed of 1449kb/ max 22775kb, thats a huge difference from the first reading, ??.

One thing I think makes a difference is whether you are on a BES. My friend who is on a BES got 2522DL (max6250) and 54.25 (max59.1)like what was posted above. I guess the speedtest I mentioned here is accurate. Is there a better way to figure it out?

What i have tried to do is a bunch of tests and more or less average them. I get pretty consistently the same thing.

    I just got
    205.39(max237.23)
    168.18(max201.48)

When I did a tethered test it was 600Kb dl which is more on par with EVDO REVA specs.

This is the BEST way since you're pulling true data instead of a "test package". If you don't already, download the trial for tetherberry and then tether to your laptop and download a 10mb file, look at your speed, that's more of a true representation than that speedtest...
