Default Tour 9630 Verizon random restart

Hi, I am in Australia, using unlocked Tour 9630 from Verizon USA

recently I start having random restarts, which i suspect due to bad battery because it doesn't restart when plugged to a power source, so I replaced the battery with non OEM battery (from ebay), unfortunately the restart still happen albeit less frequent.

I have read this forum and tried several things:
1. downgraded OS to .755 (using DM)
2. upgraded OS to .1078 (after wipe using BBSAK)
3. format the SD card
4. wedge the battery with a piece of business card paper

what I haven't tried:
1. install hybrid OS
2. buy a real OEM battery

Further observation, my Tour seems to restart more when I'm in my office and when the network/radio is turned on, when the network/radio is off, it doesn't seem to restart at all. I am not registered to office's BES and don't intend to.

any idea / suggestion would be very helpful

Thanks

added observation:

it seems to be working without problem (no restart) if i plug it to the power source even when i'm in my office

any thoughts? could it be that the battery that i got is just a crap non OEM ?

Could be the battery also I've read where some phones when struggling for a signal will reboot. Could also be an app.

i did a wipe and clean install of OS using BBSAK, the only 2 things that i imported back from the backup are phone book data and BBM data

I have heard of someone having corrupted phone book database, I will try to re wipe and install and not import anything for a while, but it sounded more like my BB reboot because it is struggling for signal, is it because the battery could not provide enough voltage?

Could be wouldn't hurt to try a different battery if you can without having to buy it.

The main things I've read that cause reboots is a bad battery, OS or app problem, very weak signal or a hardware failure.

Hope you get it figured out.

Default Same issue

Joined to reply to this thread ... I have the exact same issue as OP.

My Tour has always had "challenges" of being slow, memory full, battery drain within 12 hours, etc. and I'm pretty much inclined to pack it in when my upgrade becomes available.

The last 2 weeks I've experienced random restarts for the first time. My phone habits are the same and the only new things I've installed are a couple of the (hopefully well tested ) thank you apps from the BB Store. Yes, I tweet. Yes, I facebook. I have BBM'ed maybe three times in the past 4 years over 2 blackberries.

This has to be a reasonably common problem.

If I wasn't keeping my old tour for a backup I'd send it to you. I was one of the few lucky ones that never had any big problems with mine.

reporting back in
i wiped with BBSAK and installed OS .1078, and import BBM setting back, it is still restarting at first, i turned off the Data for a day or so, turned it on, it stops restarting, very weird, i really can't explain why my BB suddenly stop restarting (been 48 hours now) apart from the possibility that the carrier is having really rough signal

(or the fact that it stopped restarting after I bought another BB 9700 right after i gave up with my Tour )
