Default Switching from one 9630 to another 9630 - how?

I upgraded from a 9630 to a 9650 last year, and now to a 9850. My wife has no interest in upgrading, and now her 9630 roller ball is acting up. She's tried cleaning under it, did the straw thing, etc. It's toast. But she insists she doesn't want to upgrade to a newer phone - she wants to use my old 9630 (which is fine w/ me), because she "knows how everything works".

So - her phone works fine except for the ball. Will this be as simple as using BBSAK to wipe my old phone, and then copying all the files from her phone onto mine, and then activating it with Verizon, or am I missing something?

You should just use device switch option im Desktop Manager. When my trackball went out on my Tour about a year ago, Sprint sent me a refurbished Tour and that's what I did. It works great and transfers all third party apps too. Then call Verizon and activate.

Default Now no Browser???

So I did as suggested, and simply used device switch. Worked like a charm, EXCEPT there is no browser icon that I can find anywhere. Its on the old phone, but missing on the new one. So I wiped the first phone using BBSAK, and did a clean install of the OS. Browser is there when I do that. But when I do device switch, after completion Browser is no longer on the phone that I can find anywhere. I've checked "show all", looked in folders, etc. NOTHING.

Any suggestions?

Since you're on Verizon, try a battery pull then, after it reboots, dialing *228 option 1 to 'provision' your wife's BB (whatever 'provision' means, I think it is the same as resending the service books).

What I ended up doing was backing up her old 9630 with DM to save all her settings, and then used app loader to install the latest OS on the "new" 9630 (that I'd already used device switcher on and had all her stuff but no browser). Once I'd installed the newer OS on the "new" 9630, I restored that one from the backup of her old 9630. That resulted in 99% of her settings being carried over, and browser was where it was supposed to be. Then it was just a matter of activating her email on the new phone, etc.

For the record, when she wears this one out in a year or so (literally 5k texts a month, compared to my 225 or so), I'm going to insist that she upgrade to a 9930. Switches always seem to go much easier with a new phone
