I keep noticing my BB losing signal and gaining it again...happens just a few times a day (and that's when I notice it..so it must be happening more)...
Nope I have had 4 to 5 bars constantly... even found my self having 2 bars in the subway here in NYC and if u ask any New Yorker here thats incredible...
Yea, I'm in a pretty stable area...how about it switching from 1X to 1EX, and 1x?
Well in the streets and at home I always have 1XEV but like in elevators and the subway when I do manage to get a signal its 1X... I mean the getting a signal in the subway is not herd of but out of the 12 times I gotten on the train I'll say that I had any type signal about 5 times (with my tour of course)... the only time the Signal really switches is when I come out of a non coverage area such as elevators and subways etc... I start off roaming with 1X then a few seconds later I'm back to 1XEV other than that i have a steady 1XEV...
What i would like to know is if this can be fixed with an OS upgrade. The weak vibrate i can live with, my Pearl has a weak vibrate so i got used to it, but the signal jumping up and down is driving me nuts. I am constantly one 1XEV and never drops to 1x or 1xev but my signal does jump up and down.

the tour is junk, i'm sorry, but I've had 2 of them now, and they both do this... I can't hold a call in my house... big mistake RIM made by releasing such an awful model
yea i used to have the curve 8330 and it great service , then i got the tour thinkin it would have better service and it happens to be that im wrong , i get dropped calls , sometimes it says searching for network , and wen im at work i get like 1-2 bars compared to full coverage wit my curve. Must be the fone cuz ive always had great service wit sprint , this small issue has me iffy bout the tour
I sit at -80dB most of the time, sometimes dipping to -100. I am sure the signal available is better than -80 I just have never seen a BlackBerry drop below -80 (probably because -80 is a great signal and anything more is a waste of battery life).

OP are you in a good coverage area???
Yup me too. I consistently have 4-5 bars and signal on the train to the surprise of 85% of the people on the train. On ocassion I'll see the signal drop to maybe 1-2 bars only to come back up so I can only imagine it was a sunspot or electro magnetic interference or something of the like. But i haven't missed any msgs or anything like that. No dropped calls, no problems other than a trackball I'm still breaking in.
