What do the different symbols next to the messages mean. sometimes there is X's while other times there is check marks. People have responded when there is an X so I don't think that it means the message failed. And it shows up to people who I know are in my network. Any ideas?

    X's mean delivery failed.

    A check mark means sent.

A check mark and a D inside of it means sent and delivered.

When sending to, for example, someone on AT&T, you won't get the D, just the check mark.

That's what I thought it ment, but people are responding to the messages even when they show up as an X.

If I click on the message in the upper lefthand corner it is showing checks, even if there is an X when I don't have it opened

I've never had this problem when sending to someone on a different network.

Do you have the option to resend? Try that and see if you get the check mark.
