Default Slow phone, no matter what

I'm using the 9630 for the summer. Decent phone... I guess. There's, however, one problem; it's so damn slow! No matter what I do, the hourglass pops up. I've shrunk the firmware to the point that it actually went down to 39.4MB and I haven't loaded the phone with apps etc at all, just the basic ones, plus, I'm running on the latest version. Even my sister's 9000 is faster and it's got 40MB of memory left, while I have 90MB! What the **** can I do?

OMG really!? Had I known that, I'd have gotten a 9000. I got the phone because the form factor is very familiar to me, since I own the 9780. They keyboard is absolutely amazing but the software is just crap. I mean, it's a BlackBerry and it's supposed to be productive! I don't have a problem with shrinking firmwares and trying to see which the best one is, as long as performance and speed is what I get in exchange. Plus, the battery life is horrible.

PS. Please don't take the thread as a ranting one, I'm just asking for ways to improve my phone.

Take a look at the latest 9630 hybrid v975.6.1 at BBTweaks.com. The browser is really fast (faster than my 9650 OS 6).
