Unless you want to be charged for the new phone, I would make sure every little accessory makes its way back to Verizon. You don't want some stupid mistake to cost you $200.

Check the instructions that come with the return box/bag. It may even specifically say to DO NOT return the battery. I've had replacements where i couldn't fit the charger and stuff and I just kept it. Never got charged for it or anything. It's not like you don't have a valid reason for not putting it in the bag.

I sent mine back in the box that the replacement came in. The "bag" that came in mine is for recycling an old phone and doesn't go to the same place where returns of defective phones go.
