Default Semi Newbie with a couple questions

I have a couple questions

1. I have my work email set up and rather it automatically pull emails I would like to refresh it on my own. Can you please help me on how to do this?

2. I will be sitting still have full bars and then loose complete signal and then it comes back on. Is there a fix for this?

3. General ways to improve battery life?

1) Can't be done without eliminating BIS/BES, and then using a 3rd party app for mail.

2) Could be the OS, but I'd contact the carrier. It might be due to improper advanced settings they can talk you through, or a faulty antenna.

3) Issue #2 is probably the biggest impact on your battery. Close apps not in use, don't have push apps refresh frequently, cut down the screen intensity, cut back the time the screen stays lit.

Thanks Wulf. Do you have a recommendation for a 3rd party app.

How do I make sure my apps are shut down?

I sincerely doubt you'll get out of your BIS now. If you have BES and it's a company phone, impossible. Logicmail is the popular app.

If you hold the BB menu button, the open apps will show.
