Depends on what OS you have and how much stuff you have on it. Mine's 8 minutes minimum.

Wow OS 4.7 That might be the reason right there. Is that the highest OS that US Cellular offers for the 8130? OS 4.7 is ancient.

4.7 is the highest I've heard of. Bought Tour year ago and had this OS.

For some reason when I posted my last post I forgot this conversation was about a Tour. Your info confused me because you still have your 8130 listed. I guarantee there is some version of OS 5.0 available for you. If you have access to a computer load up Desktop Manager BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software and plug in your Tour. It should tell you what the most recent OS is and give you the option to download it.

Ok, started up desktop manager and am installing 5.0 OS. But, it has 11 steps to finish and its at the 3rd, and says downloaded modules 0 of 393 and a progress bar. But, nothing is happening ???

    Is this normal?

It says to not disconnect until all steps are done, but what do I do if nothing happens after 30min?

5 min boot time! I have never had a 5 min boot time since day 2 out of the box. My time now is around 10 mins with boat load of apps.

Reboot your PC and try the update again.

    Good luck!

5 min boot time? My original Tour had a boot time of around 16 min and the refurb had boot time averaging around 12 min. I honestly don't believe the 5 min booters, unless they have a bare OS without any apps on it...

You can only do OTA if your carrier has the version you want. If you do it on a PC, you can install any OS out there for your device model.

If you have a PC, download the installer file for the OS you wish to use. Run the ,exe file you just downloaded, delete vendor.xml from C:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader (may vary slightly with different windows versions). Then, in that same folder, run loader.exe to install the OS on your BB.

Apploader makes a backup automatically of your user data, but it can't hurt to make your own with DM beforehand.

Thanks, but I hate all the steps. I believe there is a ota for uscellular OS and would rather do that.

oh, also i did noticed that if you are going to do a Battery pull plug your phone to the wall and for some reason it will boot up a bit faster. guess restarting does take a lot of battery i guess

15 minutes seems like an unreasonably long time, mine takes around 3-4 minutes (it SEEMS longer though!). Did you just install something? I find some apps cause one reboot to be slower than normal but that's it.

I always hated the reboot time on any Blackberry. I once complained to Sprint saying what if I was raped during those long minutes of reboot?

All they said was that Sprint knows about the long delay and Blackberry is working on it. I highly doubt they are working on it. I started out on a Pearl and since then it in between of 3-15min reboot.
