Okay, so I don't know if this going to come off as dumb or not but its really bugging me.

I have a sprint tour and sprint always mentions 3G and all of that but my phone is ALWAYS in 1XEV and I don't get why it doesn't say 3G ever? Or if its even supposed to say 3G? But I have a friend with a verizon one and his says 3G sometimes.

If someone could just clear up my confusion please

1XEV is the CDMA equivalent of 3G. What it's called on the screen is irrelevant.

I agree 1XEV = 3G. Sometimes different themes and different operating systems will show either one or the other. It does not matter functionally which it displays both will mean you are getting the fastest speed connection the device is capable of.
