If it is only 3-4 weeks old, it is under 30 days so you can return it no questions asked, and then use an old phone until the Tour comes out and be able to use your NE2 discount.

My fiance and I both bought BB 8830's so when she was visiting Japan we would be able to communicate through PIN messaging, as sold to us by the Verizon salesman. Well, what a mistake that was...

Japan runs on its own network. Its called PDC. Personal Digital Cellular. Our phones wont work at all on their network.

well it may be good to find out what bands that network runs on would probably be good information for someone else in the same situation.

i dont believe the tour will be released in france. the blackberry tour is a CDMA device and has only been announced for North American carriers at this time. North American carriers are primarily the only carriers that use CDMA in the world. There is probably a device like the Tour being worked up for Orange/Vodafone/3/Virgin and whatever other european carriers there are.

I wonder if he could buy a US Tour on ebay or something, and then just put a GSM sim card in it from his current provider? Where the Tour is a world phone, operating on both CDMA and GSM, it's at least a possibility I would think?

that may work.. i believe the phone searches for a 1X/EVDO signal before it logs onto a GSM signal. i think Orange uses the 2100Mhz band.. also the Tour would only get EDGE speeds worldwide. he would also have to get it unlocked and flash new software because it would be verizon/sprint specific.

With all this talk of frequency bands and such, i want to bring up something that caught my attention from the RIM announcement video and the specs they call out on their website... IF i remember correctly, on the website, it says the tour only works on the regular 900 and 1800, and the 2100 UMTS MHz band for GSM global roaming... and the storm specs state that it will work on those two, PLUS 850 and 1700 MHz (i think?). But everyone says the guts of the tour are the exact same as the storm, so why the difference on the website? And about the RIM announcement video... When it's flipping through all the device features and gets to the roaming spec, it briefly flashes that it uses "Quadband GSM 850 MHz". Is that a mistake on rim's part with the video or is something else? Because i'm pretty sure the spec list on RIM's website DOES NOT say 850...

Hey everyone, hope all is well...watched a couple of the vids, and read the FAQ's but was hoping someone could offer a couple of quick answers to the following:

To me, the Tour (as shown/described) does not seem to be vastly different than the 8330 I currently have...what would you say are the biggest differences/improvements made between the two devices (aside from the 2.0 < 3.2 camera)?

Thanks in advance.

It might not be a big difference but there are more then just the camera.
I could be wrong on some of this stuff so don't shoot me if I am..lol

Processor: 8330 225mhz Tour 528 I think
RAM: 8330 96 or 128 I think; Tour 256
Alot better screen on the Tour, 8330 will be iffy for upgrading to 5.0 from what I have read. I think there are a few more but can't remember right now.
