    I am wondering if there is a way to switch from alpha entry on the keypad to Numeric WITHOUT holding the ALT key down? Thanks!

    Alt + shift will keep it on numeric till you hit the alt again

    Hold the alt key while hitting the shift key. It will put you in number lock until you hit either the alt or shift key again.
