Default Not as smart as I thought, need help

Prior to upgrading, I added an email account to my phone (gmail) which then resulted in all of my contacts being messed up. While it looked like I might have fixed it by deleting gmail, I was no longer able to sync my contacts. It looks like everything is working but nothing transfers either way. I was able to do the initial sync though that loaded the phone with the contacts. So I then upgrade to 5.0 and get the white screen of death. While I'm waiting for my new refurb phone to come tomorrow, I try an old pearl and still have the same sync problem. Everything else syncs fine, including calendar, memo's etc. Anyone have some ideas......thanks. Happy Easter to all.

Well if you are using google sync then you should delete all your contacts on your gmail that you already have in your bb. Being that it can't determine that you already have these contacts in your phone. That is why you get the doubles. Well that is what I did and it did work for me. The first time I just deleted the new double contacts but every time I sync'ed they came back. Since deleting my gmail address book then sync'ing it updated my addresses in gmail and stopped adding the doubles. Good luck!

Thanks for the response but I'm using the MAC sync. I was using the missing sync but with the problems I switched with the same result. It is syncing but with what? I deleted my gmail account but there must be something left that its syncing with.

Do you have a address book in your mac? I now on my pc I have my hole bb address book saved in my docs. The bb and/or pc did this itself when I first plugged it in many moons ago. Can you search for contacts on your mac?

Yes, I have an address book on the mac that normally syncs with my bb. Ever since I added that gmail account, things have not worked. I sync everything with the mac and it all works except the contacts. When I add a new name on one it doesn't go over to the other when I sync. I deleted the gmail account which eliminated the duplications but the two way sync results in nothing. Whats interesting is that it looks like it's syncing with something but im not sure what.
