No MMS option on 9630?!
I recently switched from an android to a blackberry i bought off of ebay. I have all the data plans, and the internet and email work perfectly fine on the blackberry. I called tech support, and spend an hour and a half on the phone with her trying to figure out whats wrong with it. It wont even give me the option to send an MMS. the button on the home screen says only "SMS" and not "SMS and MMS". Everything in the browser push is ticked, i've registered all the service books, and rebooted my phone about 3 times. I even updated my phones operating system this morning thinking that that might help. (now running on 5.0) is there ANYTHING else that would help!?! The phone is great, i just need this fixed!
P.S. went into a verizon wireless store thinking they could help and nothing!
Tried sending it from a picture, nothing worked. "Send/share" only has the option to send to facebook or email. - 07-01-2011, 04:35 PM

Did you check the Firewall settings?
Are you using it on Verizon? -

Have you tried going under Options>MMS? Make sure "Multimedia Reception" is set to "Always". Go under Options>Security>Firewall and make sure that MMS checkbos is NOT checked under "Block Incoming Messages". Have you tried resending your service books?
I have to admit, I'm grasping at straws because I've never had this issue.Who's your BhagDaddy? - 07-01-2011, 08:36 PM #5
Does your 9630 have a camera? RIM made a camera-less model. If you have one of those, it may not have MMS capability. The old 8830 without camera also could not send or receive MMS messages.

I've resent ALL the service books, countless times. The phone has a camera, and its a verizon stamped phone, that i'm using on verizon. Theres not even a tab under the settings for MMS.
^^^ thats what I'm dealing with!
I've checked the firewall and everything

Since you bought the phone used, it's likely you have a phone with the MMS capability disabled by an IT policy applied by the previous owner's employer. You can confirm that scenario by going to Options / Status and typing BUYR. You won't see the letters echoed on the screen. If you have an IT Policy, two lines will be added to the screen for Data Usage IT Policy and Voice Usage IT Policy.
If you find you have an IT Policy, you can remove it by this procedure, created by Forums Moderator Pete6: Removing an IT Policy from a BlackBerry phone.Thanked by:usmcgirl13 (07-02-2011)

I did that and the two lines popped up! I'm rebooting it now. Before I shut it down I saw nothing about MMS anywhere still. Is it something in these two lines' options I need to change?

You need to follow the link that JeffH provided if it does have an IT policy.

When you compose an SMS and attach a media file, it will automatically become an MMS. Try it.

What version of Windows are you running? If Windows 7, the registry info may be different than what is given in the procedure. I haven't used the procedure on a PC running Windows 7.

No, I'm using vista. I did everything it said to do for vista, and still nothing. I just rebooted it, twice. I went to look in the service books and nothing is there so I resent them. Still waiting for it to come back on, but now I have no option for my personal email being shown on the phone. Only corporate email.

I'm really glad you got it to work. I was worried you might have found an incompatibility. Eventually that's sure to happen as Windows evolves.

I have a Bold 9650 with the same problem. No mms option anywhere on the phone. Not even under options do i have the mms option. Did this from above and the 3 lines come up, Data, Voice, and IT policy. IT says "Disabled." Ive been racking my brain around this and this is the closest post to my prob. How can I send mms???
Any ideas lmk or PLEASE point me in the right direction.
