I like my Tour but I know for a fact it would only confuse my sister. She's a text/phone junkie who needs to buy clamshells because of the abuse she puts them through. She doesn't do web or email - she doesn't even own a computer.
A $23 Motorola i Series from eBay suits my sister more than fine, so that's what I recommend.
Moral of the story: there are more lifestyles than you can shake a stick at, so people should choose their phones accordingly.
