I just received an email about a Blackberry Device Software Update Notification for my Tour. I checked Sprint's Blackberry download webpage and I see 5.0.0.624 OS/4.2.0.285 Platform listed.

I noticed a Sticky that says US Cellular also released 5.0.0.624 OS. I just installed the leaked 5.0.0.643 on Saturday and really like it so far. Does anyone have any first hand comparison of .624 vs .643? I'm just wondering if it's worth it to load Sprint's official OS or not.

I was going to ask the same thing. I updated to .662 the other day and have been more than happy. I am sticking with this until I hear some others comment on it.

I just received the email too. But on mine it looked like it said my new software was 5.00 which I know has to be incorrect. I am running the official 5.0 that was released a few months ago on Sprint. Are you all saying we should not do this one, or you are just not doing it because you have the leaked one from a few days ago?

I got the same email too but I'm using a leaked os and hybrid that has been super good to me. Until people start commenting on it I won't update.

    Way to go Sprint!!!

    UPDATE***
Cool update - idk what happened, but all my apps are still there, & I gained about 20mb of memory. So this is the one for me. I believe that I may lose about 8-10mb when by d/l other apps, but so far everything is running well - browser is pretty quick.

I didn't have any big problems with .484 from Sprint. I just installed the .643 leak on Saturday and it's been really good -- gained about 6MB of memory, good battery life, good radio, etc. I'm just curious if the .624 from Sprint is just as good or better. If it doesn't really have anything better to offer than I'll stick with .643 for now.

I am not a master of BB like a lot of others are, so I always stick to the offical ones. But I did see the comments on the leaked one and a saw a few people say things about the battery life being stronger. Well I am d/l now and I will report back with what I see. Now, don't look for any deep technical stuff from me. It will be VERY simple...lol But thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

The site may not be updated because .484 is what was already out. This new one is .624.

The OS is still 484 on the 801 Platform...

You always want to check the Application OS version.

Ohh and I'm staying with .643

Just saw that - doesn't make sense thought, because it shows this one as newer.

It lists the 5.0.0.1061 (5.0.0.624 Applications) under it as older....

I just got an email from Blackberry.com stating a new update was available for my device, I am d/l it now since it was offical from RIM. If it turns out to be a fluke, I will go back to .419 where I was very happy. On App Loader the software version is 5.0.624

I know and checked that. Sorry for confusion -

Only posted it because people said there was a new one and weren't listing the .801 - figured this was the one people were getting email from Sprint about.

    I'm with you - I'm staying with 643.

I just d/l it and the one thing I LOVED was that every single thing that I had before came right back like it was. My screen saver, my themes, all BBM contacts and photos, etc. Last time I had to do some small tweaking to get things back (never major just small stuff) but this time it all was just like I left it. I see that the SMS and MMS pops up on my screen now when I place the ball over the icon (not clicking on it). Before only my MMS would show. The fonts and things are little larger (although my settings are the same size lol). But other than that I do not see too much. I do not use the radio so the battery life will be the big thing for me. If anyone notices any good stuff, please let me (us) know. Good luck to all of you that download it!

PS- Oh and this was the FASTEST DL ever!!! I think steps 1-11 were like 7 min MAYBE and step 12 was like 10 by itself. Very fast!!!
