just switched from the 8330 to the 9630 TOUR! i want to know if there is a way to upgrade the software without using the desktop manager? any help would be great!

I think Sprint offers OTA (over the air). Be aware it takes longer. Do it on ac adapter. You still might want to backup manually using Desktop Manager. I prefer using the computer - backups are more fullproof and you might need the OS on the computer eventually to install new apps.

I second F2's recommendation. I prefer to install an OS from a PC using App Loader so I have the OS on the PC when I need it.

Definitely make a back up on your PC and download the OS to your PC. Its a pretty easy process once you get the hang of it.
