Hey guys, today i was in our Alltel store, and they have a preview model of the Tour when they change to VZW in 2 wks. Since im looking to get the Tour i played around with it for about 10 min. I couldnt see any screen ripple from pushing the Send, End, Back or BB buttons, however, i couldnt tell anything about the trackball, whether it was a new updated trackball or not. It was a black trackball in a chrome ring.

Is there any way to tell FOR SURE whether its an updated trackball or not?

Ask for a greendot otherwise just use it and if there is a problem exchange it!

The only way to tell is by looking at the manuf date on the retail box.

i have a none green dot tour build date displayed below and my trackball is flawless. Just go with a very recent build date, sales rep wouldnt have a problem with allowing you to close. it like at the grocery store and buying milk you want the freshest milk...G'luck

ps. I went to a sprint store and played a tour on display..believe it or not the trackball was so jacked up along with the trackball setting..unbelievable i guess they dont anyone(customer w/bad trackball)coming in and playing w/ a legit TOUR...

I tried to get mine replaced through the store and they acted like there was not a trackball issue. I walked out of the store and called tech support and they said they would replace it after I said trackball isue. My replacement has no green dot to speak of and works great. Got mine replace in late September. Maybe they stopped using the green dot.

I also noticed the ripply in the lower corners of the screen when using those keys. I assumed it was 'normal'

well....like i said, i did NOT notice any screen ripple, but a couple times the trackball on it seemed to.....hesitate?

People say to look for build dates of 8/20/09 or newer. Mine is 8/12/09 and has no issues, but 8/20 would be safer.
