I see that "Email messages received using a BlackBerry Internet Service account cannot exceed 8 MB (5 MB for the attachment and 3 MB for the email message), regardless of the size of the mailbox."

Ok, I am trying to download a 3 meg attachment and keep getting a file exceeds 2.9 meg. Am I missing something?

Is there any way around this? I saw a hack or something that lets you change this but cant find it.

I believe that the limit is 5MB for the total attachment size. The individual attachments are limited to 2.9MB. There's no way around this.

If you are using a Yahoo account you can just use the browser and go to mobile Yahoo Mail and download you're attachment.

This works all the time for me. Sometimes when I forget my USB or card adapter I send MP3's to my phone by e-mail and the largest one I've been able to download using this method was ~8.6MB. If you are using something other than Yahoo I have no idea if this trick will work.

    Good luck!

There are some other threads on the subject - at least, from downloading from the Browser - there is a HACK ipd file that apparently fixes it but you'd have to trust that ipd file and it sources. And, no, I don't recall its name.

each individual attachment = max of 2.9 MB.
    All attacments combined (attach1 + attach2 + attach3 +....) = max of 5 MB

In otherwords, you could have 5 separate 1 MB attachments. You could not have 3 separate 2 MB attachments as the total would be 6 MB

Where did u see that? 2.9 2 times is 5.8, exceeding the 5 meg limit.. On rims site it says the biggest email you can receive is 8 meg, 3 meg email and up to 5 meg attachment..
