I was having trackball troubles, the same as many here are having. I just called Verizon Customer Service yesterday and they sent me a replacement, shipped overnight via FedEx. I got the "Green Dot" version, that was in the cardboard with the phone only. This new phone is perfect. No issues at all with the trackball. And there are no issues with the battery door - it fits perfect. The new tour appears much better constructed than my first one.
Verizon customer support was very helpful and was willing to ship the new unit no problems. So i suggest if you are having trackball issues, give them a call and ask for a replacement unit.
