Im not sure if this is the right place but here it goes anyway,
I dont currently own a BB but I really want one. My birthday is approaching and I have been trying to get a BB for a while, I want the Tour but the $299 price under contract is expensive. I was just wondering that if I decided to settle with the Curve would I be dissappointed?
Had a Curve for about a week before trading it in for the Tour. If you are on Verizon, consider the Tour because of the "speaker blast" problem which the latest Verizon-supported OS doesn't fix. Maybe go to the Curve forum on CrackBerry and ask about it.
If you've never had a BB before, I would advise you to choose the Curve. You won't really know what you're "missing" with the Tour. Don't get me wrong, the Tour is a great phone and I will vouch for that but it's not worth breaking your bank over.
How long have you been with Telus? Call up Loyalty & Retention and tell them you're thinking about upgrading to a BlackBerry. I've always been able to get a discount or credit as well as a better rate plan than what's offered in store or online. I have $15 unlimited data for instance, which is rare and hard to get nowadays but you can fandangle something similar. Personally, I go the you-get-more-with-honey-than-vinegar route but I've seen ranting and raving lunatics that make ridiculous demands and Telus just throws free phones at them.
For your first BB, I'm sure you'll be more than happy with the Curve. It's a solid, reliable phone and I still use one. Pretty much everything I love about the Tour is for vanity reasons, haha.
thanks for all the good info guys! Im under my dads bill for Telus and he has been with them for almost 20 years. I got a new Lg Dare in April (my mom got the same phone both for free) by negotiating with them. He doesnt think he will be able to work out a deal becasue my phone is still relatively new. I had to send my dare in though because of some problems if that makes a difference?
I have had the curve, great phone, good size as well especially is you like to have your full mobile world in your pocket. Verizon's coverage for me has been great and while many want WiFi to me its not a concern given my coverage area.
