To properly format the card go to options>memory>menu>format

Your welcome. Yes you should format a media card when placing it in a new device. Now keep in mind if there are pics, etc on there formatting it will erase them. So make sure if you don't want to lose them you copy them over onto your pc first.

Because the card in pre-installed, what would formatting do? When I got my phone I took some pics and uploaded ringtones to the card fine, so is formatting necessary?
