Default How to delete Gmail Enhanced Plugin?

Help! I'm trying to delete the enhanced plugin and my blackberry won't let me! It continues to run in the background. How can I get rid of this thing?

I've been having battery life issues ever since I installed the Gmail Enhanced plugin. I've also noticed that my data usage has skyrocketed to 50MB/day, which is more than I usually use in a week.

does it even do anything? I installed it because it suggested it, but I haven't really noticed a difference

It lets you add labels and star messages, but ONLY in the specific mail folder for that email. If you check mail through the "Messages" folder (and not in the address-specific folder), you will not get the extra benefit. I just uninstalled it...

    This really bugs me

my favorite thing about using a blackberry is that i have a single inbox for EVERYTHING

now i have to show my separate gmail inbox to get the features of the plugin

I am running 5.0.0.190 and in the list of applications, I have three categories to pick from:

    CORE
    ADD-ON
    3RD PARTY

Gmail Enhanced does not appear in any one of the above three. Can you please help me delete it - each time I change theme, I get two icons for the same thing: one email icon (bb standard) and one "Enhanced GMAIL" - this sucks.

Not to mention the already discussed ugly icon and no apparent benefit from it... Please help me delete it

I had the same issue trying to delete this and I found a solution that should work. You'll have to use Crackutil, found here: http://forums.crackberry.com/f35/crackutil-85617/
There's a tutorial on how to use it there as well

Click on File Manipulation - INTERMEDIATE
    Retrieve File Listing
    Highlight "net_rim_bb_gmail" in the list
    Remove File from Device

Your Blackberry will likely reboot. You have 2 more COD's to remove

Do the same thing for the other 2 net_rim_bb_gmail COD's
    (net_rim_bb_gmail_resource_en and net_rim_bb_gmail_resource_fr)

    Good luck!

Since the installation of Enhanced Gmail Plugin, I don't get a copy of every e-mail that I send. While I don't use the features that EGP was designed for, I'm reluctant to remove it because of the bug it fixes. Also, I don't think it's actually running in the background, and I certainly haven't noticed any additional battery drainage. I also noticed that that when you reset, the icon doesn't appear as an app running in the background. It only appears after you open the Gmail folder - which I never do - so it's cool with me.

This plug-in was a big disappointment for me. Sometimes it would thread discussions properly, sometimes it would not. Often it would create these duplicate messages in my Global Inbox or unread messages that I had to go to the Global to mark unread. Do you ever wonder if anybody really tests this stuff???

Are you running Windows Vista? You have to do a few extra steps if you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Microsoft Vista is a very secure environment and for good reasons it objects to some of the things that CrackUtil does within the Program Files folder.

Under Microsoft Vista you need to take additional step is needed after installation on all versions.

Right click on the CrackUtil icon and scroll to Properties.

Select Properties and then on the next panel, select Compatability and then click Run this program as an administrator. This only need to be done once right after installation.

Note the check in the Run this program as an administrator box.

This only has to be done once.

This procedure needs to be repeated for the program javaloader.exe which resides in the C:\Program Files\CrackUtil folder with CrackUtil.

There is a way to not have sent copies also sent to the phone, with a filter on your BIS website.

Yeah, that occurred to me [by accident] a little too late - after the installation of EGP; although, I'll probably keep it until I find a reason to delete it.

    Thanks for the tip though!

Default What if you WANT a copy of everything you send???

Just today I stopped getting copies of everything I sent through my work gmail account - I like this feature! It's the only way to see messages sent when you're writing emails from your computer rather than your blackberry...any help please.

The only thing I can think of is for you to establish a BB email account and auto CC all your sent mails to there.

The only thing I find useful about the gmail plugin is the fact that I can do a remote email search. So I can search for old emails in my gmail account that are not on my phone.

I deleted the first file mentioned using BBSAK and it rebooted. After the reboot it returned to my old gmail settings. My question is do I need to delete the other two files or should I just leave it be?

yeah, I was wondering that too. I think I'll go ahead and delete the other two and see what happens I can always start over from scratch.
