| | how to access MLS system?
Hi, I have a friend who needs to access MLS system constantly. Blackberry browser can't access it, Opera Mini can't access it, Bolt browser can't access it. The main reason she gets blackberry tour so she is able to access those web information easily. Now she can't use it, Blackberry tour is kind of useless to her.
Any help? Thanks.

You can try opening up the browser, Hit the BB key, go to options, Browser Configuration, and changing your Browser Identification from BlackBerry to Internet Explorer

I really don't know what a MLS system is. lol. I googled and the only thing I saw right away was the some MLS systems are only for Interent Explorer 6 or above and that someone mentioned changing the Browser ID.
And the other thing that was common was real estate stuff. And that seemed like it was all dependent on the type of system being used.
So I would suggest just doing some googling.

Yes, that's right, it is essential tool for Realtor, and it requires explorer 6.0 and above. I got the same error message every time I went. I really don't want her to think that I lied to her after I persuaded her to get Blackberry tour believing it is the best phone for business users.

| | Try Pocket MLS or Kurio for MLS Access
I work in the real estate industry. For us, MLS stands for Multiple Listing Service and it is the primary database where Realtors post and update listings of properties for sale. While it does have a public site, the professional side is limited to members only, which are usually realtors and related industry. It sounds like the OP wants to access the professional side.
I've tried the Ipod Touch (Iphone OS) and the Blackberry web browsers to access MLS and it won't work. Perhaps there is some technical programming that makes the MLS sites inaccessible on smartphone browsers like Safari, Opera Mini, etc. There are premium sofware services that provide access to MLS. In northern California, Pocket Real Estate has long provided such access for Palm and Treo smartphones. They also include Blackberries, too.
In a separate google search, I came across two sites that also offer MLS access. One is Pocket MLS at Pocket MLS - Wireless MLS Access for your PDA - The Only Patented Wireless MLS Solution, which may be Pocket Real Estate under a new name. The other site is Kurio, which is also available for Blackberry (despite the Iphone image on their web site) and gives access to MLS. That site is Kurio for Real Estate Professionals - Kurio - Real Estate Search for Mobile Devices.
Hope that helps!

If you don't, hit the BB button (the one with all the dots), and look for "Browser". Add me to your messenger contacts if you have any more questions, I'll help you out.

Many of my clients are Real Estate agents, and I doupt anyone will get MLS working on a smart phone if they are like the Florida one.
MLS is a messy patchwork of scripting, java, and other backend languages I doupt any smartphone will work on. Unlike many so called "IE Only" websites even Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc can not render it usable let alone correctly with a changed Browser ID.

I went to my desktop MLS and clicked link about PDA/PHONE. This sent me a link and I have only been able to bookmark it. I am able to go to Bolt and get there from favorites. Most associations have a tech support group to contact.

My buddy Roger is a real estate agent, we tried for a week to get MLS to work on his curve. He finally checked with his IT guys and found out there is a mobile version of MLS that works just fine on the blackberries. I don't remember the address though, it's not your typical m.whatever or mobile.whatever.

As a rep that has been selling blackberrys and smartphones for over 10 years now i can tell you that the benifits to the tour over other pdas is amazing in the field of real estate. Let me explain, as real estate is the vertical i have specialized in for the last year and a half. First of all, the emails. The real estate industry is very time sensative and the blackberrys email push system helps you keep ontop of quick replys as buyers and sellers always want to be on the top of your priority list. Second, As of recent, ekey is now accessable with a bluetooth dongle. This allows you to not have to carry around an extra key and it auto updates. The Association here in OK has a mobile version of their MLS which is accessable on a BB but the problem isnt with the smartphones. As stated earlier, they are way too complex for any smartphone to handle and they usually require digital certs. If it is that important to have access to MLS at all times, the best recomendation I can make, and it has more than one purpose, is to get an aircard. Using it as a closing tool it is an essential tool in conjunction with a smart phone for realtors. Sprint offers aircard and unlimited service for 150, and im sure verizon has something somewhat similar
