I recently just got my first BB and i am seeing this status icon in the bottom right of the banner under the signal that looks like a crosshair with 3 sonar waves going out from the right of the crosshair. can anyone explain what exactly it is for can it be turned off and if that is the reason my battery is dieing in a day when i have been charging the phone ever other day. thanks for the help. it is not discribed in the manual and i have not found it online yet.
That means you have the GPS set to "always on" if you are running a program in the background like google maps, which is constantly pulling your location via the GPS, it can drain your battery much quicker. I run with my GPS always on, but always make sure to close any apps that pull my location after I am done with them. Otherwise just go to advanced options>GPS and switch it to 911 only.
