My blackberry 9630 was water damaged pretty bad. I went home and put the phone in rice for a day, it still didn't turn on. I then left it in my car (in the heat) for a few hours and it turned on and was working.
The only issue was, the keyboard wasn't functioning properly. It would type several letters on screen when I typed any single key.

I opened it up and put isopropyl alcohol on it, upon closing the phone it was not working at all.
When I plug it in, the red light turns on. (and stays on for quite some time) however the phone never turns on.
    Any suggestions??

I know someone who dropped her phone on the toilet, washed it with soap and water, and, after two weeks drying at the shadow, all dismounted(after mounted) it worked.

Don't know if the alcohol did it for you, but if didnt, and you dont have insurance, you could try it

Take it apart and let it sit a few days.
