I found 5.0 had a grey screen that lasted a few minutes before installation began (using Windows 7). Did you give it some time? Also, I found that 5.0 did not give me full removal options (languages, help, etc.), only games and apps. I went back to 4.7, which let me prune out what I didn't need.
I'm getting the CD to run properly and I've downloaded DM 5.0 and 4.7 from RIM and Verizon. I can't get any of them to install.
The process starts and then I get an error message that the installation was interrupted and no changes were made to my system; that occurs about 30 seconds into the install.
That problem sounds really vague. There must be in error message. Give us some details.
I have the same problem, and there isn't an error message. I put the disk in, it opens a large, gray window, and nothing ever happens.
I can close the window and use Windows Explorer to go find the .exe files mentioned elsewhere in this post, but those have an error message that the installation couldn't complete as someone else mentioned here as well.
For added info, this is a dual core machine using Win XP SP3.
Absolutley!! This is the answer to all. Seems to be problems when installing from the included disk. Downloaded from VZW and installed with no problem.
From what I heard, some of the CD's that went out with the Tours are corrupted. You can either download it or you can just use the latest version, 4.7 worked perfectly for me.
I tried that and I keep getting an error message saying that the installation was interrupted and no changes were made to my system; that occurs about 30 seconds into the install.
I'm using DM 4.7 for now, but I'd like to update the DM and I can't figure out why I keep getting this error message.
