So i was sitting in on an AT&T Data Training class today and the instructer showed the class something i have never seen before to clear up some memory. If you hold alt and press L then G and L then G you will get a window that pops up and shows an event log. Apparently the blackberry logs everything you do and if you dont clean it every once and a while it can start to take up some memory. So when in this event log window just click menu and clear log.

Hope this isnt something that is well known and im going to be flamed for making a useless thread lol.

Well normally when I delete all my inbox abd all the garbage, then reboot, I have 93.9mb free. I did the same thing, this time deleting my logged info and still have just 93.9mb free. But Ive oly had my phone 6 or 7 weeks. Maybe this would be more useful for freeing up memory for people who have had the phone for a longer time? Either way, still a good find!

After you clear the log, hit menu again>options. Set the minimum log level to Debug. Then come down and hit menu>hide all types. Then you will only have to do this once. This was good for the Pearl's with their limited memory, but good refresher info.

I tried this and it is not working on my Verizon Tour. Is this only something that is on AT&T??

If you have QuickLaunch, you can set it to the quickLaunch menu and then all you have to do is scroll down and click event log.

There is also an app logMaid - Personal Productivity BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Software Store which will clear it every hour and it's free! I love it!

SInce the log is a text file you only save a small (but worth having) amount of memory. Removing the entire log will also remove your call log so if you need to remember who you called last, pressing the green button will no longer display a list.

However, once in the log (Alt-LGLG) press the menu key and you can check which modules you wish to keep a log of. Careful checking and unchecking here will allow for a smaller log file whilst keeping any data you still need logged.
