Professors are required to send out an email if class is canceled and just general things about classes. I tried to add my school email to my tour but it says its not recognized. I called the school and asked about it and they said theyd have some1 from IT call me back about it

I forward my Rutgers email to my gmail, then that is linked. Its easier then dealing with the Rutgers junk.

it really depends on how your school has student email set up. you might be using a special mail server and have to put that info in...

what school do you go to? check your school's website for their IT department and find out a. if they support pop3 or imap and b. what those server names are. then set up the email account manually in your BIS.

I have my NC State email forwarded to gmail, as well as all my other email accounts, and use the Gmail app...and with a little effort, Gmail will allow you to send emails from your school address. This was all setup before i got my tour though, so the simplest solution for me is to just use gmail.

University of Wisconsin is setup through their own mail servers, and it works under the standard blackberry email setup (IMAP) and works perfectly.

I would be if you go to the school website and browse to the IT section, you may well be able to find out the server addresses without needing to talk to anyone.

My college didn't natively support BB so I had to manually set it to forward email to my gmail account and it works great!

I have it set so that my college email forwards to my gmail account. That way I receive it on my phone, and if I send back a message it comes from my personal email.

The only problem with forwarding emails to your gmail account is if you somehow don't get an important email (whether it was sent or not) the first thing that the school can (and will) say is that the email was lost while it was going from your school account to your gmail account and that is not their fault or responsibility and you are SOL (even if it never successfully gets to your school account). Probability of this happening is extremely low, but stranger things have happened in the world.

I have mine set up through the imap setting. Get all my emails through the school to my tour, had it set up through my storm also. I know I had lots of problems getting mine set up through outlook though, took me like two hours to figure it out.

My Quinnipiac email is working great. I tried setting up my friend's Villanova email last night on his new Tour but it wasnt working. I tried putting in the server and everything but no dice. He said maybe his IT guy needs to put it in because it is all secure or something...I dont know. Any of you had experience with Villanova?

I've got my University of Maryland e-mail forwarded to my gmail, and the gmail is on my BB. How much do schools actually use the e-mail though? I've gotten like two the entire summer.. I'm going to be a freshman in a week, however.
