This is possibly a dumb question but I know the Tour has 256MB ram and 256MB device memory. Are these two the same memory and if they are one is cannibalizing on their ram by adding apps?
Yes. Think of it as a hard drive. Programs and themes use the space and if the space gets too small you will have performance issues. Media goes on the SD card so they aren't an issue.
That said I have yet to see any issues from having too little memory. I just don't need that much stuff on my Tour. Yet.
