I've been exploring new things on my Tour, and music is one of them. I downloaded Pandora, and really like it. It says it uses a lot of data, so my question is, is my data plan really unlimited? I could listen to this all day, but that might rack the bills up if my plan really isn't unlimited.

Nothing is truly unlimited. If you read the fine print, I believe Verizon limits you to 5gb a month. If you exceed that, you'll probably get a warning or have your service disconnected at the worst.

Although, I may be wrong if this story is still accurate.

I read the Terms & Conditions for tethering, and it makes no mention of a 5gb limit like it used to. Just the, "don't be stupid about internet use" clause and that's it. Maybe both are truly unlimited now.

I cant imagine theres a way you can use enough data on a smartphone to scare Verizon.

I was told by a corp store employee that data using ur phone (web surfing, email etc...) is truly unlimited. If you tether to your computer there is a cap at 5GB.

I know it seams that everyone gets different answers from different people but just sharing what I was told.

Same with Sprint. If you keep it to on phone use it is unlimited. You would have to try real real hard to break a 5GB cap even if it did exist. Now if you tether you could blow through it real easy. They haven't instituted a cap for on phone use because there is no need at this point. When apps become available that really churn through bandwidth you can bet the farm that they will.

Thanks mixtape, there's been a lot of discussion on this topic in the past. Essentially, it's not unlimited, but if you were using just the data plan on your phone and not tethering, it'd be pretty tough to raise Verizon's eyebrows.

What they said. I find it hard to run up data on my phone though, even constantly streaming through slacker.

Both are used. ANY data transmission across the network while tethered will count towards the 5GB soft cap.

You can always look at your account on verizon site and see how much your useing if your really that worried about it.

Apparently the only data plan for Verizon is like 29.99/ month and it is unlimited? I got my blackberry years ago and it was like 45.99, and in the last few months it has went down. The 45.99 is for enterprise users now, or at least thats what Verizon told me.
