For a Christmas present, I got a Tour. Since it is Christmas, the Verizon store will be closed. I want to activate this phone pretty badly because I am pretty sick of my Storm. Anyhow, I want to know if I am able to activate my phone myself?

If anyone has any information and help, it would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can activate the phone from your My Verizon online. If youve had a BB before then you should be fine, but if not then you might have to call since they need to verify that the data plan will be added to the account. Thats what happened to me just to let you know.

Yes the storm will be deactivated when you activate your tour. You can also try dialing *228 and activate it that way.

Ok, I can't find the ESN number.... there are so many different numbers!

Its under the tour battery on the white sticker and its called the ESN Hex. There should be 8 letters and numbers.

it's telling me that it was unable to activate my phone. i see where it says esn hex but it doesn't consist of 8 letters and numbers.. it is less than that.

I would say just call VZW after christmas and activate it that way.

yeah, i guess that's what i'll have to do. i know that the stores are closed on christmas but i called tonight wanting to activate it that way but they were closed, it said nothing about being closed tomorrow for christmas. so, hopefully, i will be able to have it activated tomorrow...(i hope) i dont want to wait until saturday! lol
