you should be safe...and no worries anyways, I have had my tour since launch morning (7.13.09) at 9 A.M. and have had absolutely no problems what-so-ever!

Make sure to check out the label on the box. My 4th Tour is 7/29/09 - Mexico 5. (got this last Fri - 8/28)

Is there any way to check build date on the device itself (i.e., if you don't have the box). I just got a replacement today that I picked up at Corporate Store and all I got was the device (and a charger that I asked for and was given). Therefore, I can't check the build date.

Also, I noticed that the batteries in these have a rubberized feel to the sticker. Is this new?

My BRAND NEW Aug 21, 2009 Mexico has a smooth battery. And, yes, a GREEN DOT.

As far as "build date" on the device. I remembering seeing something on a label in one of those dissection videos or photo tutorials that appeared to have a date on it. But whether that is the date of just that part or just before complete assembly I don't know. Also, it is not easy to see - it is inside the device and kept hidden by at least the 4 screws if not more.

I remember reading somewhere that Tour's with a build date of 8/19/09 or later have the trackball issues fixed.
