I quite using bedside mode on my Storm. The damn thing kept me up at night!!
I've been trying it with the Tour and it seems better.. that half of my bedroom is no longer glowing! lol
I still think RIM needs to add a setting to the clock to allow us to choose the bedside display brightness, as we can with the display under normal circumstances. C'mon RIM!
The dimmer option makes it pretty dim but its all about opinion. What i can say is flip it screen down when on bedside mode...Plus the analog clock option isnt so bad.
I actually didn't know there were other displays to select besides the analog clock face for the alarm clock as I'm a new BB user, but it's a deep black background with white number marks and clock hands. Not too bright in my opinion, and I'm sensitive enough to use automotive window tinting material in front of my other clocks to tone down the glare.
Mine sits about four feet away from my head where I sleep just for reference.
