But as to what she'll look forward to..
First of all, there's more to life than just nice phones. Haha. And besides that, by the time she starts working, phones will evolve even more than what they are today.

She seems like a well rounded girl. I see no reason as to why she shouldn't have a blackberry OR get called spoiled for it.

I think the major difference here is that she is earning the phone and working for the finances that go toward it. I'd let my daughter do the same. But since she is practically anti-work at this moment (apart from doing well in school), she'll be getting the LG enV3 that is to arrive on Wednesday.

This is the same as the "is it too much for 10th grader to have s bb" thread. Even if she wanted to pay full retail price for it and give it to her daughter it's no skin off of anybodys back, anyone that has a true issue with it, it seems like jealousy. In all honesty, yes it is completely ridiculous and a 12 year old has no need for a phone that does what a bb does but as I mentioned before, half of the adults that have bb's have no need for them either and something being ridiculous never stopped people from purchasing things before. Other than a pre paid basic phone that can call parents, emergency numbers and immediate family every cell phone is too much for any child so what is the difference between a touch screen and a bb? Not every kid that has everything they want is a spoiled brat, just like every child that isn't given everything they want is well mannered. Anyway enough rambling... Op I'm glad you are in a position to give your child nice things a lot of people can't afford and it's even better that you are making her work for it just remind her to watch for other childrens sticky fingers.


Oh and whoever said you shouldn't get an allowance for chores I hope you don't require your kids to clean anything other than their personal space. I also totally agree with kids being able to make a lot of money... I was given pretty much everything I wanted but for money I used to clean my next door neighbor horse stalls and house, collect recycling cans/bottles and walk my neighbors dogs and I was getting around 350 + my allowance a month at age 10

Thank you for being supportive Yes, I am going to work my bottom (it censored the real word) off for this phone. When I am 16, guess what? I'll be working extremely hard for my car. I am not just spoiled. I work for my things.
