Blackberry 9630 in Ireland
I have a 9630 that I used with Sprint for a year. I got tired of the trackball issues, so switched over to an Epic 4G. I kept my 9630 just in case I could use it internationally. In March I will be traveling to Ireland for a week. I want to use my unactivated Blackberry locally in Ireland to check on hotels, taxi's, rentals, etc. I have no desire to use it to call back to the U.S. nor to use Blackberry data. Some data might be nice, but it is not necessary.
I was wondering if I can get a local pre-paid SIM card to use in Ireland with my Blackberry, even though it is not active with Sprint. If so, how do I do it?
Do I just need to get the phone unlocked with Sprint and then pick up a local SIM? Will Sprint do that with the phone inactive?
Do I need to do more than just unlock the phone?
Thanks for any help!
