Pretty much same phone except the ram is less on this one. Won't bbsak or SAOS increase it?

You can't increase the RAM, unfortunately. As far as OSes go, try the latest release for China Mobile (see sticky thread at the top). It seems pretty good to me.

643 was a good one when I had my Tour; you can shrink the OS to free up app memory.

I am on Sprint and use Verizon's .975 OS, since it came out. I have tried others, even hybrids, but .975 seems to work the best. .1030 did random reboots and didn't bother with .1041.

+1 on the .975 being the most stable.

.1030 is terrible... period. I had no success trying to give it a "functional" status and immediately went back to .975. However, Phil over at bbtweaks.com made a sweet hybrid with OS 7 files. It is quick, battery is great, browser is fast!

You may want to give that a shot, but become familiar on how to install a hybrid OVER the original OS using your PC. There are plenty of instructions floating around the net and on crackberry and bbtweaks.

Good Luck

Sorry you gave up so easily. I always uninstall any previous OS from my laptop via the control panel before installing a new OS. This usually fixes problems of the AppLoader not recognizing the BB.

What OS are you using for the PC?

When i use Windows 7 at home, i always have issues with BBSAK and DM and AppLoader, but Windows XP always works smoothly.

That's an interesting observation, and one I had not read before. I recommend leaving the previous OS installed on the PC, so that you can roll back simply by uninstalling the new OS and running the App Loader again. I've never had the problem of the AppLoader not recognizing the BB, but I've seen it posted many times. Good to learn this solution.
