Aloha everyone,

Okay, so I upgraded my Operating System on my Tour yesterday and noticed that my phone was running on 3G ever since I upgraded the OS. Is anyone else's phone running on 3G or 1XEV? I know when I had OS 4.7 installed, I was running on 1XEV.

But now I have OS 5 and it's on 3G all the time, I read in my manual that 3G is only available during national roaming or something like that.

Could someone reply with what they're running on? Mahalo...

Thanks Helinho, that's all I wanted to know. Are you running on OS 5? And if so, I assume you have 3G too =).

Yeah. It is just a display change for the UI. 1XEV is still 3G, they just made it prettier by adding the blackberry symbol and actually saying 3G on it.

Hehe, well, I tried looking on CrackBerry for it, and I found so many dead links. A friend of mine has the Tour also and got a leaked version of this OS so he did it for me on his computer since I can't get hold of it. If I find one, I'll private message you. Keep searching though, because my friend said he got the link yesterday through CrackBerry. But I can't find it.

Oh thanks for the info! You know what I noticed, when I had OS 4.7 installed, and on 1XEV, my connection on the internet was slow...it's much improved on OS 5...or is it because of 3G? LOL. I'm a confused girl here right now, don't mind me...LOL.

I stil had 1XEV when I installed 5.0.0.191

Yeah, only when I turn off my phone and turn it back on, it'll show 1XEV, but if I do a battery pull, it goes to 3G. When I read in my manual about roaming charges, I was like..."I hope I'm not getting charged for roaming..." but of course it's free, I just checked =). Thank goodness.

the radio file is better 1XEV is the same as 3G. RIM just change the aesthetics of it in os5.

5.0.0.191 is Nice but you lose Facebook and most of the IM apps. Also you have to use BBM 4.7 other than that it is a very solid build so far....
