without removing the net_rim_bb_medialoader.cod file? this file contains the folder icons, which I want to keep, but i have having the sample song/mms icons/contact icons as they are just a waste of space (not to mention the sample song is annoying when I am trying to select my own music)

when i use BBFileScout and try to delete the files, i get a 'net.rim.device.api.system.ControlledAccessExcepti on [null]' error

Try deleting the folders rather than the files & post your findings.

same story, i get an error -- while this could be done on the storm (deleting the sample folder), it seems verizon has locked it down this time around on the tour (god i hate them)

is there any other way without removing the medialoader.cod file itself?

Try bbfilescout.. it can be use to customize you email icon too

I looked at the link in your signature, neat. Any way to have a glowing type icon like the tour has?

There is another file manager (some "Pro" version) in the CB/MobiHand store that might have a trial version but I'm not sure. Wish I could have been more help.

A little OT but highlight the folder BB button/Edit Folder highlight the folder icon & click then select the icon you want.

That will take a custom theme, which we can't do yet with the Tour.
