So im confused, i hear people complain about being stuck on 1xev? Well on my tour screen it always says 1xev, i have not once seen 3G. Is my phone still in 3G? Im very confused.

VZW devices will not show 3G - it will show 1XEV - same thing

Yes, you won't see 3G unless it's unlocked and you hit a GSM carrier, we have Verizon which is a CDMA carrier. You also should show 1XEV in all uppercase letters...

EV is 3G for CDMA.

Stuck on 1xev means no blackberry data services. When its capitalized 1XEV it means you have access to blackberry data services.

1XEV or 1X means you have data

1xev or 1x means you do not

lowercase means no connection to BB service, not no connection to data.

lowercase means you're not connected to the BB network. You still have data, you just won't get push email, or be able to use the BB browser. You can still, however, use things such as opera.

While this maybe true. Ultimately no email, BBM or browser means no data . Still bad for a BB

You can still use other applications that use data to access the web, so there is data flowing to the device....
