is it 256MB of RAM and 256MB of application space? i went on the Blackberry site and saw two 256 figures and wasn't sure what they meant. Also, does application memory affect the speed of the phone? or is it RAM?

Berryjoose shows 256MB of FLASH memory, and ~55MB (huh?) of RAM on my phone. I think one of the 256MB specs from RIM is for the 256MB memory card that comes with the phone. AFAIK, RAM is what makes your phone slow when it runs low... though I think it may be possible to overrun the flash memory and have the phone use RAM for apps. My 8330 was chock full of apps, and my free RAM would increase (beyond what I'd normally have after a battery pull) if I deleted an app.
